What this RFID is ? How Does it Work ?

When we need to track and identify things, such as electronic devices or living entities, using radio waves then we need to use a highly advanced technological mechanism. This mechanism is called radio-frequency identification (RFID).

This system, helping to trace, track and identify an important stuff, uses the data and information provided by the RFID tags. These tags need to be implanted or incorporated to the objects we need to trace and track. The radio signals sent by these tags help to gather a regular information about the object.

More importantly, the signals transmitted by these RFID tags are powerful enough to be received by signal readers kept at bigger distances.

Both the two types; active RFID tags and Passive RFID tags, the most prominent ones, have two functioning parts. The first one is an integrated circuit while the second one is an antenna. The former is used to process the stored information based on radio signals while the latter receives and transmits the informative signals.

As a matter of fact, RFID is capable enough to revolutionize a wide range of fields. Hospital industry, sports, security, supply chain management are few of them.

Some Fields it has Brought Significant Changes to -

RFID and Supply Chain Management :

RFID has brought a magnificent and remarkable efficiency in the field of supply chain management. It has allowed to collect relevant and important data related to movement, loading and unloading of goods on various sites such as docks.

Also it gives important information related to the accurate time consumption while such activities go on. The unique serial identifier in RFID tags identify the cartons individually and prevent multiple scanning of the same bulk.

RFID and Food and Drug Supply :

The introduction of RFID has helped a lot to ensure a better service in this field. According to estimates, 15-20 percent of food was getting spoiled before the use of RFID. It has minimized this destruction upto great extent. It has provided enough relevant information to reduce shrinkage a great deal. Thus the factors like damage, spoilage, theft while supply are no more as troublesome as they used to be earlier.

RFID and Security :

The use of RFID by security agencies has made them extremely equipped. The threats like terrorist attacks and many other natural and man-made calamities has been successfully minimized. The security to personal details in field like banking is much more enhanced than ever.

What More Does It Have ?

If attached to, it is capable enough to revolutionize any industry or organization. Apart from enhancing the standards in the production of goods and their movement such as loading, it has made the job of logistic service providers, wholesale suppliers, distributors etc a lot easier.

With the help of this system, they keep collecting important data and information which help them to take important future decisions. Moreover, the fields like drug production and food supply to deduce information which help them to regulate the production in a more elegant way.

The industrial segments which have started using RFID have experienced a clear cut reduction in expenses, an enhanced quality of goods, increased sales, minimized shrinkage etc. Also, preserving the quality and keeping the food and drugs have become easier.

Its Stressbusting Cost-effectiveness :

The most important and attracting aspect of RFDI tag is its cost-effective packages. Since its invention we have seen a gradual reduction in its price. The manufacturers always aim to bring the cost as low as 5 cents per unit or below. This factor has provided enough reason to initiate a boom in its implementation in the industries.
