Signal Transmission Medium Overview
The transmission medium is configured to convey data transmitted by the sensor to a remote location. The sensor transmits data on the communication line a number of times by at least two methods of transmission or modulation.
Type of Transmission Medium
There are three types of transmission medium: Simplex- Radio and television broadcast. Half-Duplex- It flows in both directions but only one direction at a time e.g. walkie-talkie. Full-Duplex- It flows in both directions simultaneously e.g. modems (bi-directional simultaneously).
Communication Mode
The communication stream through which the data being transmitted is: Media- Cabling, Microwave, Fibre-Optics, Medium- Radio Frequencies (RF), Infra-red Wireless etc.
