B B Battery It is an electric battery which supplies a constant and positive voltage to the plate of a vacuum tube. B Supply Also known as "B Power Supply." It is a source of power, such as battery which is used for supplying a constant positive to the plate of a vacuum tube. Barretter It is a type of detector or control device using a resistor which varies in proportion to its temperature. Baseline It is the line formed either horizontal or vertical on the face of cathode-ray tube by the sweep of the scanning dot. Battery It is an electrical device which consists of one or more cells to convert chemical or solar energy into electrical energy. It provides a steady-state DC voltage source. Bias It is the application of steady voltage or current to the input of an active device, like a diode or a transistor, inorder to produce a desired mode of operation. Bipolar A device using both the positive and negative charge carriers, such as transistor. Bistable An electronic or electrical circuit having two stable states. Black Box It is a complex electronic product which is defined by its functional, or operating characteristics and is packaged as a singular unit. Its internal parts are hidden from view. Block It is the application of a high negative bias to the grid of a vacuum tube used for reducing the plate current to zero. Blocking Capacitor It is capacitor which is used for blocking or stopping the passage of direct current from one circuit to another and allowing only the alternating current to pass. Bobbing It is the effect on a radarscope of the fluctuation of a radar echo due to the alternating interference and reinforcement of the reflected waves. Breadboard It is a circuit which is assembled on an insulating surface, usually with solderless contacts, where the components can be easily replaced for circuit alteration and experimentation. Buffer It is a single output circuit being activated by one or more of several inputs. |
