Testers
Testers Overview
A tester is electronic measuring equipment that combines several functions in one unit. The tester comprises of a counter, the output of which is applied as a test signal to a portion of the conductors in the cable under test. A test signal for the remaining portion of the conductors in the cable under test is derived by inverting the output of the counter. Cable faults are detected by comparing the signals out of the cable to the applied test signals. The apparatus is controlled by a state machine which causes test signals to be successively generated until a cable fault is detected or a full set of test signals has been generated. A standard tester may include the ability to measure voltage, current and resistance. It is basically a hand held device.
